A good stay starts with an easy journey. Guests who know which line to take, where to change and where to get off arrive in a better mood, and they send fewer messages on the first evening. This is what we put in our instructions for flats in the 15th, based on Wikipedia and the Viparis access page.
The metro: six lines in the arrondissement
The 15th is served by lines 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 13. They all run underground except line 6, which comes above ground from the Bir-Hakeim bridge to Pasteur, on an iron viaduct over boulevards de Grenelle, Garibaldi and Pasteur. That is the line in the photo, near Dupleix.
- Line 6: Bir-Hakeim, Dupleix, La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle, Cambronne, Sèvres-Lecourbe, Pasteur, Montparnasse-Bienvenüe
- Line 8: La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle, Commerce, Félix Faure, Boucicaut, Lourmel, Balard
- Line 10: Ségur, La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle, Avenue Émile-Zola, Charles Michels, Javel-André Citroën
- Line 12: Falguière, Pasteur, Volontaires, Vaugirard, Convention, Porte de Versailles
- Line 13: Montparnasse-Bienvenüe and Duroc
La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle brings lines 6, 8 and 10 together, which makes it the handiest interchange for the north of the arrondissement, around rue du Commerce, which we describe on the Commerce and Grenelle page.
RER C and trams
The RER C runs along the Seine on the north-west edge of the 15th, stopping at Champ de Mars – Tour Eiffel, Javel and Pont du Garigliano. In the south, the T3a tram links Pont du Garigliano, Balard, Desnouettes, Porte de Versailles, Georges Brassens and Brancion, while the T2 serves Porte de Versailles, Porte d’Issy, Suzanne Lenglen and Henri Farman.
From Gare Montparnasse
Gare Montparnasse sits on the edge of the 15th, its tracks marking the boundary with the 14th. It handles TGV trains from Brittany, the Pays de la Loire and the south-west, including Rennes, Nantes, Bordeaux and Toulouse, as well as Transilien line N. Montparnasse-Bienvenüe metro station, reached from the main concourse, serves lines 4, 6, 12 and 13. Lines 6 and 13 are the closest to the platforms; lines 4 and 12 are at the end of a long corridor with a moving walkway. Lines 6 and 12 reach most parts of the 15th with no further change.
From Orly airport
Since 24 June 2024, metro line 14 has served Orly airport, at Aéroport d’Orly station. It meets line 6 at Bercy, and from there line 6 crosses the Seine and runs on to the stations of the 15th. The other option is Orlyval to Antony, then the RER B to Saint-Michel – Notre-Dame, where guests change to the RER C towards Champ de Mars – Tour Eiffel or Javel.
From Charles de Gaulle airport
The RER B links the airport with Paris. For the 15th, the simplest route is to get off at Saint-Michel – Notre-Dame and take the RER C westbound, or to walk through to line 4 at Saint-Michel and ride it to Montparnasse-Bienvenüe. Noctilien night buses take over after the last RER B.
What goes into our guest instructions
For every flat, we write out the route from the station and the airports to the nearest metro or tram stop, then the walk to the front door. All of it goes into the digital welcome book and the arrival messages. We do not quote fixed journey times: they depend on the time of day, engineering works and the starting point, so guests check them on the RATP app.
